JOB OVERVIEW:

The Maître d’ is a vital leader within the front-of-house team, responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience from arrival to departure. This role oversees dining room flow, manages reservations and seating strategy, and ensures a polished, welcoming atmosphere. The ideal candidate is poised, service-driven, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume hospitality environment.


JOB EXPECTATIONS:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Greet all guests warmly and professionally upon arrival.
  • Manage seating to optimize table rotation while maintaining guest satisfaction.
  • Anticipate guest needs and ensure a seamless dining experience.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the menu, daily specials, promotions, and dietary accommodations.
  • Oversee reservation systems, waitlists, and table assignments.
  • Accurately manage booking platforms and communicate changes or updates to guests.
  • Strategically manage walk-ins and peak-hour seating to maximize efficiency and revenue.
  • Supervise and support hosts, servers, and other front-of-house team members.
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen and management to ensure smooth service flow.
  • Assist in training and mentoring host staff to uphold service standards.
  • Address guest concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Resolve seating, service, or dining issues with discretion and urgency.
  • Escalate concerns to management when necessary.
  • Maintain a polished and professional entrance and dining room presentation.
  • Uphold service standards, grooming guidelines, and brand image.
  • Ensure the environment reflects the restaurant’s concept and service expectations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a host, Maître d’, or front-of-house leadership role (high-volume experience preferred).
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficiency in reservation and POS systems.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • At least 21 years of age.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to work under time constraints and within established deadlines.
  • Must regularly lift and/move up to 15 pounds, and must have the ability to push, pull, reach and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces. 
  • Physical ability and stamina to stand for long hours.
  • Physically able to walk without assistance on various surfaces for an extended period of time.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Work is performed indoors and outdoors in a climate-controlled environment and exposed to various environmental factors such as but not limited to noise, dust and smoke.
